German
Military Motorcycles : In the Reichswehr and Wehrmacht 1934-1945
(Schiffer Military History)
by Horst Hinrichsen
Over 300 b/w photographs, 200 pages, hard cover.
The book documents the riders and motorcycles of the Wehrmacht in great variety, and in
all theatres. It includes many rare photos of requisitioned machinery including Terrot and
Gnome et Rhone, and information on the uses to which captured allied motorcycles were put.
There is information on the allied parachute troop's bikes - the Cushman and Welbike - in
addition to the better known American & British machines such as Norton , FN, Indian,
HD, BSA etc. The book is of
great interest to the motorcycle historian, and a fascinating read for all
enthusiasts.

The Winged Wheel Patch, A History
of the Canadian Military Motorcycle and Rider
by Max A Burns, Ken C. Messenger
Hardcover - 168 pages 0 edition (August 1, 1993)
Vanwell Pub Ltd; ISBN: 0920277853 - Special Order
The lack of any public recognition for the efforts and sacrifices of Canadian motorcycle
riders during wartime has been a source of frustration for some veterans. The Winged Wheel
Patch corrects the oversight with a lavish presentation of rare photography and an
abundantly detailed record about the Canadian experience on military motorcycles. It's a
large-format 8 1/2 x 11 hardcover book printed on glossy paper, and the reproduction of
the photography is particularly good. The Winged Wheel Patch and its authors deserve
praise for gathering together what otherwise threatened to slip through the cracks of
time. In words and pictures, the fragile history of the Canadian military bike and rider
has been carefully sheltered between the covers of this book. (Bruce Reeve, Cycle
Canada Magazine, Nov-Dec/93) |
